Residents Giving Cold Shoulder to Miami Dolphins

Miami, FL– As the news of LeBron James leaving the Miami Heat has settled over the past few weeks, Miami residents find themselves searching for entertainment.  James, who spent the last four seasons with the Heat, brought the team to four straight playoff appearances, three finals and two championships.  James returned to his hometown team the Cleveland Cavaliers on a 2-year deal.

As the Heat attempt to rebuild without King James, folks in Miami are found saying “now what?”  The Miami Marlins baseball team is having an OK year, sitting at 54-57, but no one has 3 and ½ hours to enjoy an already slowed game of baseball anyways.  And there is yet to be a Major League Soccer team in Miami, but that’s not considered entertainment in America.

UPFL staff addressed Miami locals with an unprecedented idea: “become a Miami Dolphins fan.” The results were a bit surprising, to say the least.  Some stated that they thought the team had folded after Dan Marino retired, while others never knew the organization existed.  “I had heard of them in small bits here and there,” said Mitchell Woodham, a Miami resident for the last 11 years.  When people talked about Ryan Tannehill around town, I just figured he had transferred from Texas A&M to the Dolphins of Miami Community College.”

The Dolphins struggled in 2013, posting an 8-8 record, putting them 4 spots below wild card consideration (which was even worse than the NY Jets).  It also doesn’t help that their best receiver is a 6’2” white guy from Ohio State (I don’t have the Hart to mention his name).  But the team has made valiant efforts to improve, adding RB Knowshon Moreno to their backfield, and drafting notable WR Jarvis Landry.

The results of the organizations efforts remain uncertain that it’ll attract its own fan base, because the main issue is the lack of entertainment.  The Miami population isn’t quite burning their LeBron jerseys yet, but they’ll have to watch old games on their TiVo for at least the next two seasons.  Who knows, maybe LeBron will make “The Decision” to come back to his second home.  Until that happens, “Go Dolphins Go,” and best of luck filling your stadium.
